Photo by @michaelclarkphoto | This image was captured from a sailboat looking back at the chain of the Lofoten Islands under a wild sky. A few years ago I was lucky enough to visit this incredible country and the amazing Lofoten Islands along with an incredible crew and we sailed for ten days throughout the Lofoten Islands. I have great memories from that trip! #norway #Bodø #Svolvær

Photo by Michael Yamashita @yamashitaphoto | The snow covered Pamir Mountains loom over travelers on the road from Kashgar to Pakistan. The journey is a slow one, as men ride donkeys while leading camels loaded with freshly cut hay. #PamirMountains #Pamir #Xinjiang #China

Photo by @paulnicklen | He was the largest and most impressive male polar bear I have ever seen. But, in this moment, he looked small, submissive and defeated as his constant attempts at mating were rejected by this beautiful female in the Arctic. I sat with them for 24 hours, bearing witness to this intimate exchange even though his desires were never realized. I am grateful every day that I get to walk in the shadows of beings more complete than I am, to go unnoticed in the wild lands where they live, eat, and breed. Follow me @PaulNicklen for more stories and wildlife images from the field on @NatGeo and @SeaLegacy expeditions. #PolarBear #Arctic #BornToIce #Explore

Photo by @stephen_matera | Morning fog along the Big Sur coastline, Garrapata State Park, California. Big Sur is a rugged section of the Central Coast of California between Carmel Highlands in the North and San Simeon in the South. Highway 1, now called the Cabrillo Highway, was opened in 1937, works its way along the entire 70 mile route but is often closed due to landslides. Follow me @stephen_matera for more images like this from California and around the world. #bigsur #coast #California

Photo by @andrea_frazzetta | Traveling along the Amazon river. The Amazon rainforest has long been recognized as a repository of ecological services not only for local tribes and communities but also for the rest of the world. Amazonia and its trees are a significant source for oxygen and major sink for absorbing carbon dioxide. The process of photosynthesis is important for life on Earth and all of those trees in the Amazon are deterrents to the growing problem of increased greenhouse gases. The Amazon region has often been called "the Green Ocean" because evapotranspiration from vegetation provides water vapor to the atmosphere. Such water vapor is critical for South America and global weather patterns and ocean currents. The atmosphere is a large fluid system so processes and moisture sources have global connections. We need to do more to save our forests. Follow @andrea_frazzetta to know more about my next projects. #SaveTheAmazon #AmazonRainForest

Photo by @taylorglenn | A view of the Colorado River from Toroweap Overlook on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. It takes a bit more effort to get to this side of the park but the reward of this view is well worth it. Follow @taylorglenn for more from around the West. #grandcanyon #arizona #coloradoriver

Photo by @KristaRossow | Budapest’s iconic Széchenyi Chain Bridge and the Hungarian Parliament Building light up after dusk while sightseeing boats ply the Danube River. Although Budapest is a beautiful city at any time of day, I think the city is the most magical during twilight, also appropriately called blue hour. For more images of Hungary’s capital city, follow me @KristaRossow. #Budapest #Hungary #Danube

If you have the chance the ferry between Bodø and Svolvær (in the Lofoten Islands) it is a feast for the eyes and the camera if it is a clear day and the ocean isn’t fully enraged. A few years ago I was lucky enough to visit this incredible country and the amazing Lofoten Islands along with an incredible crew and we sailed for ten days throughout the Lofoten Islands.
